InterPlanetary Ventures MBC
A lot has happened since the last update in October. Communications has completed brochures, a teaser video and our written manifesto and slide presentation to be used to promote IPV. Finance has created the online dues payment system integrated with the website. We are growing out of the online world into the real world with our first office, located in Point Richmond, California, USA. We move in next week, February 1, 2007.

As in away we go! The Communications department is off to a great start, developing brochures, presentations and videos to promote InterPlanetary Ventures. Next week we start building up the Finance department, get ready to accept dues and other income. The meeting has built up some momentum, we just have to keep it going, keep making progress towards the goal of Getting People Into Space.

Step By Step
Looks like we'll be having our first general meeting this weekend. We have a lot to do, like finalize our startup Board of Directors and appoint some executive officers, review and finalize our corporate ByLaws. We will discuss managing two technical projects, a membership drive, a creating our public image through public relations, and public events, and of course funding and fundraising. Now the fun begins!

Space Ventures
Space Ventures
I had a chat today with Dr. Michael J. Gaffey, who specializes in space based resources, asteroids in particular. He will be a great resource for information and possibly an advisor for the asteroid mining project. He said something I've heard many times this last year, that the private sector will not be financing space ventures until something comes along that will bring them a fast return on their investment. There has to be more to our expansion into space than just a return on an investment. The space pioneering era is not based on return on investment, just on moving people into space. Building an infrastructure that will allow people in space to live from space based resources, and building a viable space based economy are the key elements of this infrastructure.
