Space Ventures

Space Ventures
I had a chat today with Dr. Michael J. Gaffey, who specializes in space based resources, asteroids in particular. He will be a great resource for information and possibly an advisor for the asteroid mining project. He said something I've heard many times this last year, that the private sector will not be financing space ventures until something comes along that will bring them a fast return on their investment. There has to be more to our expansion into space than just a return on an investment. The space pioneering era is not based on return on investment, just on moving people into space. Building an infrastructure that will allow people in space to live from space based resources, and building a viable space based economy are the key elements of this infrastructure.

Hey there Kevin,

So, this is to say what IS being accepted as a viable contribution towards the exporation and exploitation of space would NOW be... space tourism. Isn't this what is now the major enterprize which would influence the other elements of space concerns n the near future?
